1950s Figurative Abstract Oil Painting Signed Barrel, Framed
A vibrant work by American painter Italian Botti. He uses a palette knife to apply pigment. Some areas are more abstract with swatches of color on the lower left side of painting juxtaposed next to figures, bicycles and balloons.
Italian (George) Botti was born in Greenwich Village, N.Y. in 1923. He attended the Brooklyn Academy if Fine Arts, Leonardo da Vinci School of Art, the Abracheft School of Art, the National Gallery and Art Students League. He studied under Reginald Marsh and Bernard Lamont. He taught at the City College of N.Y., the Art Students League and Art Institute of Chicago.
Botti painted under the pseudonyms “George Barrel” and “Barrel Botti”before using his birth name, Italian Botti.
